About the Series

Across the Sky is a documentary series dealing with the stories of migrant workers and immigrants in South Korea and the United States. The series is an attempt to explore the human side of complex immigration and migrant worker issues and bring our audience the opportunity to experience the effects of migration through our characters.

The first episode of Across the Sky is Lost BaggageLost Baggage deals with the lives and struggles of migrant workers in South Korea, their efforts to create change and the complex legal situations many have faced since the early 1990s, when South Korea saw the first influx of migrant workers to the country.

The second episode, currently in post-production, is Honoring HomeHonoring Home is a human documentary about Han Lin, a Burmese political refugee in the US, and his family members, who continue to struggle for themselves, their colleagues and their home country, Burma.

We are currently in pre-production for the third, fourth and fifths episodes, with stories ranging from individuals working for environmental awareness and preservation in Kenya, folk music artists from Guyana, young men and women refugees from Sudan, and Haitian migrant worker families in the US.

The series currently has episodes in pre-production, production and post-production. Along with airing on a US-based Korean broadcasting station, MBC America, in 2009, episodes will enter the film festival circuit upon completion as single, independent works.
